Kids are always kids but what so special about 90’s kid and why they are special in the history. Somewhere ranging from 1990 to 2000,I see them as a connect, a bridge between two fluctuations. 80’s style on one hand and millennium on other hand, It’s a time where brothers and sisters fight to pick up the handset of a landline telephone when it rings. I still remember my landline numbers…uh…. Here you go its 471 38 33… Yahoooooooo . I wonder how I remember in spite of the fact that I am a memory loss patient. The kind of craze we had on Boomer bubble gum, nevertheless to say fascinated by the free tattoos they gave, Parle-g(fascinated by Shakti Maan Sticker), He-Man Rubber, Pen-Pencil, Sharpener which captures the dust within itself. That’s the time the computer came close to normal public, the first thing enjoyed was painting, pinball game, cards and of course working with MS-Dos.
There was a communication bloom all of a sudden which gives birth to pager.. wow..cool…handy.. All you have to do is call some number and tell a message, the text message will be dropped to that pager, We can call it as a dropbox.. ha-ha….Few advanced pagers also had inbuilt games and alarms. And then comes the Giant Cell Phones and simcards, Started as a fancy and becomes the necessity. Imagine a technology that delivers a message and controls a part of network group by simply altering the frequency of radio waves..hmmm.. oh yeah , it’s there for a long time called as Radio [Einstein’s Idiot box] but limited to one way communication. The so called cellphone is for two-way communication. It altered the very course of the human civilization. Just imagine unavailability of all mobile networks in the world just for 60 seconds, Oops world is crashed, Reboot????????????
Okay that’s enough, too techy for the past few sentences. Now comes the culture, starting from the way we dress, what we eat, how we eat, the time we wake up and the time we sleep. Not a Biological expert but guess our DNA is altered. Women started migrating form Dungeon kitchen to heavenly work places. Men’s domination started degrading. In fact that was the time men realized that we were dominating our equal opposite sex. Money mind bought tradition; Fashion bought culture; Time bought peace. In spite of all those Bull shits, one thing happened, more people getting education J, which never happened before.
After growing as adult, we still pray. Walker prays for a bicycle, Bicyclist pray for a Motor Bike, Motorist pray for car and car owners pray for Big Caaaar. Coming back to entertainment, I still remember my Onida Television, Huh.. these days kids on seeing the old TV, a kiddo asked his dad, ”Hey dad, what the big box attached to the back of the TV, Dad smiles and says “ that’s a part of a TV”. Poor Modern kids donno the evolution of TV. They started with LCD then LED. They neither enjoyed black and white TV nor even know that once we watch TV without a dish/cable connection. I no more have the goose bumps feeling which I had while watching shakthiman serials, Dexter’s laboratory, Tom & jerry kids, Scooby Dooby doo show, Jupiter friend, Johnny bravo, road runner ,Popeye, power puff girls, courage the cowardly dog, simply CARTOON NETWORK!.
Coming back to the present , couldn’t believe that we were born and brought up like htat we are something else now. The million dollar question is “who the hell am I”. These days we are different breed, the work in the classical dictionary has become very famous “Outsourced”. I like the word, that’s the reason why I am a tax payer wright now. Most of us thought we will be in the same field as our parents was or our grandparents was. The only target is to become a doctor or engineer or lawyer. I am quite different though, I wanted to become detective then scientist then pilot then actor, well today I am all the four, I am an Software Professional…lol….rofl…ha…ha..Ha.. I wonder if you are laughing at thispoint coz I am ain’t. Okay guys its 3.38 AM and feeling exhausted, so finishing this useless blog abruptly.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Regards,
Raghav
PS: Proud to be a 90’s kid.
